New Jersey progressive metallers EAST OF THE WALL have confirmed a co-headlining US tour with Chicgo metal trio DIAMOND PLATE.
Sponsored by MetalSucks and Metal Injection, the “Redacted Pulse Tour” is due to kick off on February 28th in Brooklyn, New York, before tearing its way across the US throughout March and into April. EAST OF THE WALL will be touring in support of their latest release, REDACTION ARTIFACTS while DIAMOND PLATE will be touring in support of their new album, PULSE, both are out now worldwide.
EAST OF THE WALL comment – “It’s going to feel great climbing back in the van and bringing songs from Redaction Artifacts on the road. And it’s been a good time rearranging some of the old material for the new lineup. Plus, we have Diamond Plate keeping us on our toes every night.”
DIAMOND PLATE comment – “We’re kicking off 2014 with a co-headlining tour, featuring the incredibly talented East of the Wall. We’ll be playing cities we’ve never been in and songs we’ve never played before. Redacted Pulse, like a heart stopping, combines the album titles of both bands. New Jersey progressive metal unit EAST OF THE WALL has posted a new digital single to benefit Translator Audio, the renowned NYC-based studio having been completely destroyed when Hurricane Sandy blasted the East Coast in October. Translator Audio was the place countless bands have recorded some of their most impressive material, including Keelhaul, Unsane, Pelican, Cave In, Made Out Of Babies, Rosetta, and more, including where EAST OF THE WALL recorded their commended 2011-released The Apologist LP.
In order to raise money for the studio’s reconstruction fund, EAST OF THE WALL is releasing a demo of a track scheduled for the group’s yet-to-be-recorded upcoming album, which will be released later this year via Translation Loss Records.
The track, titled “I’m Always Fighting Drago,” is the first to feature EAST OF THE WALL’s revamped lineup, which still includes drummer Seth Rheam, guitarist/vocalist Matt Lupo, and guitarist/vocalist Chris Alfano, yet sees new guitarist Ray Suhy and guitarist/vocalist Greg Kuter filling the holes left by departing members Brett Bamberger (bass/vocals) and Kevin Conway (guitar/vocals).
Suhy (also guitarist for The Baltic Sea) has been performing and writing with EOTW for over a year, first as a touring guitarist, and then joining as a full member when Conway left the band last April. Shortly afterwards, Bamberger left the band to join Revocation full-time. After some restructuring, Alfano moved to bass and Kuter was added, completing the lineup, and in the process adding the strongest melodic vocal element the band has ever produced.
The new demo can be streamed exclusively at MetalSucks, and those interested in helping Translator Audio can purchase the digital single in lossless audio from Bandcamp for $3 (although those wishing to donate more can do so).
Included with the single for “I’m Always Fighting Drago” is an acoustic/vocal cover of “Century Of Excellence,” a song from EAST OF THE WALL’s first album, Farmer’s Almanac, performed by Larry Chiswick (Vehicle For Blackness, ex-All Parallels)

EAST OF THE WALL will enter the studio in late Spring, but will be road testing the new lineup and material on a short string of tour dates to be announced shortly.
Jersey prog-destroyers EAST OF THE WALL will unleash their next massive full-length Ressentiment via Translation Loss Records on July 20th. Today, MetalSucks has hosted the an exclusive premiere of the album’s opening track, “The Ladder”, streaming now at this location: http://www.metalsucks.net/2010/07/01/climb-up-the-ladder-with-east-of-the-wall/.
Meanwhile, the band have also posted another new track from the record, ”Wisp Of Tow”, on their official website, Facebook and Myspace pages.
EAST OF THE WALL’s Ressentiment is a concept record in which the band focus on a more aggressive tone, an increased emphasis on sonic dissonance, and also integrating the use of vocals for the first time on an EOTW album. Engineered and co-produced by Will Putney at The Machine Shop (King Crimson, Clutch, Lamb Of God), the album closes out over 62 minutes in length, seamlessly meshing mind boggling tech-metal with serene melodiousness for the entire ride. Preorders for the record are being taken this week: http://translationloss.com/store/.
