Following the release of their third LP, The Apologist, New Jersey-based quintet EAST OF THE WALL have just confirmed a month-long tour of the country this March and into April.

Having already endured a rigorous self-booked trek of America in the Fall months, this second wave of touring in support of The Apologist will see EAST OF THE WALL laying down their oppressively technical wall of progressive metal dissonance alongside Black Tusk for the entire trek. Performances with Prong, Skeletonwitch, Royal Thunder, Intronaut, Gaza and more killer acts fuel the tour as well. A full list of confirmed dates is listed below, with more to be confirmed and added in the days ahead.

Following years of booking their own shows and tours, EAST OF THE WALL have recently partnered with The Pantheon Agency, and through this new alliance the band plan on dominating stages for the rest of 2012.

Recorded by Andrew Schneider at Translator Audio in Brooklyn (Cave In, Pelican, Keelhaul, Unsane, Rosetta), The Apologist undoubtedly portrays the most challenging and groundbreaking EAST OF THE WALL tunes yet, with incredible response from magazines, local newspapers, blogs and through diehard metal and progressive fanbases across the globe still coming in. Released in late October, the CD/digital release of the album was handled by Translation Loss and the 2xLP via Antithetic Records.

Incredible, advance media reviews of The Apologist are dubbing it as the band’s most cohesive and potent material to date. Set for release on October 25th on CD/digital via Translation Loss and 2xLP via Antithetic Records, the textured madness was recorded by Andrew Schneider at Translator Audio in Brooklyn (Cave In, Pelican, Keelhaul, Unsane, Rosetta), and surges with nearly fifty minutes of EAST OF THE WALL’s trademark challenging progressive metallic prowess.

“Imagine the metallic flourishes of the math-rock band Don Caballero lasting much longer, the bombastic gruff of Botch injected with melody, and some super-tight, jazz-inspired guitar work.” – NPR

“… the same wonky, jazzy, proggy via post-hardcore East of the Wall-isms… but done in new ways, evolved to the next level, more ambitious.” – MetalSucks

“It’s progressive metal in the truest sense of the word. This album is as raw and musically uncompromising as they come.” – Alternative Matter

“‘The Apologist has a very straight forward production that focuses the attention to the miracles that are worked in terms of melody and rhythm. It is by far the best East of the Wall have made… A new star in the post-metal sky.” – Lords of Metal

“Melodic, slick, clearly jazz-influenced and wonderfully emotion-hewn, this instrumental section clashes naturally with more technical post-metal-isms later in the same song, but East Of The Wall have the talent to pull it off, whether indulging in softness, harshness, or both together.” – Metal Reviews

Promos of The Apologist and interviews with EAST OF THE WALL are available now worldwide via Earsplit PR.

Exploratory New Jersey-born prog-metal peddlers EAST OF THE WALL are preparing to drop their third full-length slab of methodologically unique output, The Apologist, this Autumn. Longtime followers of this act, and the numerous related current or previous acts leading up to this recording — including but definitely not limited to The Postman Syndrome, Day Without Dawn, El Drugstore, Argonauts — have been awaiting this release for some time.

In preparation of the forthcoming tech-fusion upheaval of The Apologist, longtime EAST OF THE WALL supporters MetalSucks have graciously hosted the public’s first listen to the band’s latest output, in the form of the eleventh track from the album, “Whiskey Sipper” [although both MetalSucks and Earsplit know we do more than "sip" whiskey when the band play in around here].

Tune in to survey the new EOTW terrain at MetalSucks.net.

The Apologist was recorded earlier this year by Andrew Schneider at Translator Audio in Brooklyn (Cave In, Pelican, Keelhaul, Unsane, Rosetta), and boasts 47 minutes of EAST OF THE WALL’s aggressive and angular metallic assault at its most cohesive to date. This week the band have let loose the final artwork and track listing for the release’s multiple incarnations, with a confirmed street date of October 25th, both for the CD/digital release via Translation Loss, and for the double 12″ vinyl release licensed to Antithetic Records, available in three different color variations.

The CD is available for preorder here and the LP here.

EAST OF THE WALL will beat the country senseless with their engaging live prowess for over a month in support of the album right in time for its official street date in late October. In longstanding tradition, the band are booking this venture themselves, and in many cases they are unable to announce several of the shows and are also still looking to lock down a few shows along the route. Anybody interested in booking the outfit on the designated shows please contact EOTW directly at: band[@]eastofthewall.com, or simply counter this correspondence.

I’ve noticed that we’ve been neglecting our website a bit in favor of our Facebook page. Sorry about that. It’s just easier to post there from our phones and such, so you should befriend us at www.facebook.com/eastofthewall or at least bookmark us, since we tend to do smaller quick posts there.

Regardless, we’ll make more of a point of posting all the important things here, like for example footage from our recent European tour with Radare. Those guys did what don’t tend to do anymore: pull out the video camera. Also the picture quality of their camera makes ours look like a toy.

These are the first two parts of a four-part series. They plan to post these weekly, or close to, so part three should be coming any day now. I’ve embedded them below, but I really recommend clicking the hd link to go to the vimeo site and watch it there. The hd version looks great blown up fullscreen.
